Your first visit: the 20-minute consultation

At NAGI, we spend about 20 minutes talking before we cut. What will we ask? Do you need a photo? The owner answers the questions first-time clients ask most.

The salon, with a row of white chairs

Three things we ask first

  • What's bothering you about your hair right now
  • How much time you have for your hair in the morning
  • Whether you want to grow it out or go shorter

It's fine if you can't put it into words. We'll ask as we look at your hair. How your curl falls and which way it grows usually tell us a lot.

Most people come in because "it just got long." That's more than enough.

Photos help, but aren't needed

A photo speeds things up, but you don't need one. If your hair type can't match the photo exactly, we'll explain why, and how we can get close.

Planning your next visit

After the cut, we'll suggest when to come back. Because we cut so the shape holds as it grows, it's fine to come a little later than that.
